Contemporary Library

   On 20 of March librarians from Sumy region visited our Window on America center. We spoke about the library’s role as provider of books, as a place where reading is important and where citizens can gather formally and informally by providing free space for meetings and special events. For many years, public libraries were as quiet places for study and research with collection of books, magazines and knowledgeable librarians. Today’s libraries are being designed with more space for people and technology and less space for books. New technology transform libraries from what they are into what they must be. Most of attention of our guests was attracted by Kindle and iPads. In the future our libraries will be different and at least as important as they are today.

What is creativity?

Welcome to English-Speaking Club. Last month we had a variety of topics discussed:

12.02 – Creativity

    Our discussion was focused on the question: “what is creativity and what do you need to be creative?” Creativity can be expresses in a number of different forms, depending on the unique people and environments it exists. Creative people tend to be more open to new experiences, are more self-confident, are more ambitious, self-accepting, impulsive, driven, dominant, compared to people with less creativity. Most creative persons are very passionate about their work. In order to be creative, you need to be able to view things in new ways or from a different perspective, be smart, yet also naive at the same time. We heard nice thoughts and spoke about our talents and our creativity.

Conversation Circle

    There were four meetings of the Conversation Circle in February. During the first meeting on February 6^th new projects of the students who were the members of the Circle were discussed. The topic of the second one on February 13^th was “Valentine’s Day”.  People exchanged views on the topic and told how they celebrated it. The 3^rd meeting on February 20^th was devoted to the

discussing of the two topics: “History” and the so-called “Generation Gap”. The fourth meeting held on February 27^th altogether was devoted to the discussing of the topic “Interviewing”.
